Hi.I'm Vinay

“I generally have my hands in your pocket.”

In case you were wondering what that line meant, I am a Tech Lead with a decade worth of experience working with mobile apps. I built my first Android app in 2011 and have been hooked ever since. I truly believe that being able to give life to my ideas is a superpower and I try to make full use of it through the various projects I tend to keep myself busy with. I've also had the fortune of working at some of the best engineering teams like Airbnb, Snapchat, Spotify & Deloitte where I made meaningful contributions.

I'm a Google Developer Expert for Android and I make it a point to share my learnings and have spoken at various conferences like Droidcon Americas/ SF/ Montreal, Android Summit, 360 AnDev, Google Developer Group events, etc. If you'd like to know more about my professional journey, you can head over to this article where my career was featured on YourStory.com. Over the years, I've been fortunate to have my work featured in the media. You can find more in this section.

Open source is a big part of my life and I have made meaningful contributions to the Android community. My github profile is a good way to learn about the open source projects that I've created. I've also been invited to numerous judging panels like SIIA CODiE Awards, Horizon Interactive Awards, Edison Awards, CruzHacks, etc. Lastly, I devote a good amount of my time towards mentorship and helping the next generation of engineers. Leading a life of purpose is important to me and I try to give back in whichever way possible.

While my expertise lies in Android, I've spent a good amount of time working on iOS, backend & web in a professional capacity and am willing to work on whatever is needed to get the job done! You can reach me at vinaygaba@gmail.com.
